Using Resource Documents

  • Resource Documents:
    • Designed to provide information which is categorized in all resources list
    • Can appear in resource portlet, a custom portlet, and the all resources list
    • Can either be stand-alone or link to another page (internal or external)
  • Where Created:
    • In department sub-folder 'resources' or root sub-folder 'site-resources'
    • Publishing a resource document in the resources folder makes it appear in its selected category/categories in the all resources list
    • To appear in the department's resources portlet, go to the department's navigation/resources folder, add a link to the resource, and publish the link.
    • To appear in the root resources portlet, go to the root navigation/resources folder, add a link to the resource, and publish the link.
    • You can also possibly create a custom portlet (see separate documentation) that link to resources. You might want to do this is you have a special group of resources you want to highlight.
  • Where public sees:
    • In all resources list under selected category/categories. From here, if resource contains a link to another page, the link will go to the target link.
    • In the resources portlet if linked in navigation/resources folder. From here, the link will go to the resource regardless of whether it links to another page. Both the link and the resource must be published to show up in the portlet.
    • In a custom portlet if a custom portlet is created with link to resource. Both the link and the resource must be published to show up in the portlet.
