Setting up Open-eGov and other AddOn products used by Open-eGov
- All City Resources and All City Services
- When CityDepartment is installed, it also installs Resources_Directory and Services_Directory. Both of these create a link in http://[your_site_root]/navigation/shared_links to point to their respective displays of all city resources and services. There are a couple of things that you may need/want to change:
- [your_site_root]: whatever url you use for installing CityDepartment will be used for your_site_root; e.g. if you use an ip address versus a published url, the link will be to the ip address. If this this not what you want the public to use, then you should edit the links and change the ip address in the link to the appropriate published url.
- Type of link: if you do not install ComboLink before CityDepartment and then later install ComboLink, existing links will still work, but attempting to view them will cause an error. The only way to fix this is to delete these two links and recreate them. Though the target is on your server, it needs to be entered as an external url. The reason for this is that the targets (all_resources and all_services) are page templates in portal_skins and therefore can not be accessed via the internal browser widget.
- Department Folders
- A sampling of 5 city department folders can be created automatically using these steps:
- go to the ZMI
- click on plone site root/portal_migration
- click on the Setup tab
- scroll to the bottom of the page to find eGov_portal Setup
- select both options provided
- click on Update
- When department folders are created, whether manually or automatically as above, they are created with several subfolders for holding various types of content. If created automatically, the folders are not there initially. To create them:
- go to a department folder that was automatically created
- select the State drop-down (should say 'Published') and select Reject or Retract
- edit the folder ... you will want to go to each page of the edit and update with appropriate data, but this is not required to create the subfolders ... you can just edit and save.
- select the State drop-down (should say 'Published') and select Publish when you are satisfied with its contents
- The City Departments link that displays in the Resources portlet on the left is not initially set up with the appropriate link. To fix this:
- go to [your_portal_root]/navigation/resources/link_city_dept
- select the State drop-down (should say 'Published') and select Reject or Retract
- edit the link and enter http://[your_portal_root]/list_departments (must be external link because list_departments is a page_template in portal_skins)
- select the State drop-down (should say 'Published') and select Publish
- Two things can keep a department from showing up in the City Departments list:
- Department folder is not published (when viewing the home page for a folder, the State showing is for that page, not the folder; click on the Contents tab to see the folder state).
- The department folder field 'Include in Department Listing' (on Display schemata when editing) is not selected.
- If 'Related Agency' (on Display schemata when editing) is selected, the department will show at the bottom of the City Departmets list under Related Agencies.
